Retrofitting cruise control?

Anyone done this to an A3 with electronic throttle control (i.e. 2002 1.8)? I gather there is a kit.
Does it only involve fitting a different stalk with the additional switches, or does it need an ECU mod?
Any help appreciated.

But I wanted to know if the official Audi kit, or the parts from another car, could be fitted?
