Sirius Satellite - $1,200 for a tuner - really?
I recently purchased a 2009 A3 w premium package demo and I would like to install sirius satellite radio. I note that Sirius sells universal tuners for $60, however, I my understanding of "universal" and theirs differ drastically.
Anyways, I phoned my local dealer who informed me that the tuner I need would be $1,400 installed. That is a big WTF, especially considering the price of comparable tuners and the fact that most manufactures are offering Satellite radio for free right off the lot. So - Is there any way I can get satellite radio through my Audi Concert system (i.e. I don't want another display unit) without getting taken to the cleaners. Any help appreciated. |
I am also aware that some have purchased tuners used. Does anyone know the relevant model number I should be looking for?
Thanks again. |
Idea for you. Find a Sirius box from your local audio shop and they should be able to connect it to the existing wiring and then activate it from your head unit. Why pay Audi 1400 when you can probably get it done for 400

I will go for a company one, but it is too costly. All the best.

Are you sure you don't have it already? Doesn't your head-unit have a 'SAT' button? It should.
Sirius Satellite radio is a standard feature on 2009 A3's. Both on the base and on the 'Convenience package' with the Bose "upgrade". At least, in the US it is. And you get three free months of service, no activation charge. The dealer should have activated it for you when you bought the car. |
