I just got my car out of the service from my gears not going into place. At first when i put it in drive the car would not go and then it'll jerk really hard when it does go into gear. They reprogrammed the CPU and i got it out this afternoon. While driving back to work I felt the slight jerks when i slowed down to 2nd or 1st gear. Does this happen to anyone else? I'm going to bring the car back for round 2 this afternoon.

I think he must be talking about DSG, i.e. "put it in drive".

Sometimes, when I am approaching a red light, foot totally off the gas, there is a very slight jerk as it shifts from 2nd into 1st. I suspect that's just because 1st gear is geared real low.

 

I have the same kind of issue...I don't know if it's a problem or just the way it is, but it is worst as I'm accelerating from a stop on a hill. As I release the brake I roll back in what feels like neutral. Then, as I step on the gas, I continue to roll back until it suddenly engages and jerks me forward. I think this is probably just an idiosyncracy of the DSG, but correct me if I'm wrong. I don't know if there is a different technique that'll make it smoother. I also see the deceleration as the DSG changes from 3 to 2 to 1 as I stop at a light. I think this is normal too....but I'm kind of a newbie.

I have the 06 DSG with only 250 miles.

 

I've had this car for 3 months and put almost 7000 miles on it. Before then it wasn't jerking like this until they had to reprogram the CPU. I think the jerking is noticeable enough not to be normal. I love this car but now because of the jerking I wish I had a different car.

 

check under the hood when its dark and look for arcing round the spark plugs and anything else that's electrical they are more noticeable in the dark then you might find the problem remove any engine cover

Have you always had this problem or did it just start? I didn't feel the jerking until i got it out of the shop. I drove the car as if it was fixed and when i slowed down to 2nd gear that's when i felt the jerk.
