Tinting on a Leased Car

Hi all, just recently leased my first audi a3 with open sky and the technology package. Just have a quick question. Since this is the first car I ever leased, I was just wondering if you get dinged for tinting the windows when you turn your car back to the dealer. I've searched the forums, but couldn't find an answer.

No, you won't get charged for that. Every car in the past that I leased (from different manufactures) all had tint added to them... and it's nothing to be concerned with on a lease return.

^ +1 - I am also on a lease and will tint the windows. Actually, I will also upgrade the supension and flash this puppy. I will most likely downgrade the supension to stock again when I return it just to make certain everyhting is cool.

Unless they do a bad job on the tint, most people would agree that it adds value and since they are not paying for it but will receive the benefit, unlikely it is going to be a problem.

Congrats on the car!

Regarding tinting.. Can you tint rear windows in spite of the defroster wires? Is there a type of tinting that actually reduces heat in the cabin, or reflects it away? My dog rides in the back and I would like to keep the heat down as much as possible.. Charlie

Yes, you can tint the rear window... no problem with defroster. Just get it done by somebody really good. A cheap bad job will look crappy. Tint will reduce the heat. How much depends on the material used. 3M = good stuff.
