Tire Pressure
What tire pressures should I run? I just got my ride back from it's 8000km check and they adjusted the tire pressure to 32 all around. As recommended in the manual I had things set at 36 front and 33 rear. When I called Audi they said that is just a recommendation and they set all their's between 32 and 34. Who is right.

RE: Tire Pressure
There should be a sticker on the door post that you can see when you open the driver side door.

RE: Tire Pressure
There was a post recently about an A3wearing out the centre of the tire treads. If I remember, the pressure had been set in the 40's. There should also be a "maximum inflation" number on the sidewall.

RE: Tire Pressure
problem with the P6's is they are insanely loud at anything under 36psi on 17" wheels. I am running at 38f and 36r and have to add air every other week to keep them quiet enough to not drive me insane. Cant wait to get new tires next week!

RE: Tire Pressure
I ran 38F&R with my Pirelli replacements, Bridgestone RE960's, 31k later, even wear (still 6/32nds of the original 11/32nds remaining), great performance, and still relatively quiet :)
Since I had coilovers installed, I have lowered the tire pressure to 36F&R. IMHO, oem tire pressure's are too low!!! Add 3psi to oem and adjust as necessary depending on thread wear & performance. [8D] |
RE: Tire Pressure
32 all around here, when the tires run they get hotter and the psi goes up so too high it might be bad

RE: Tire Pressure
Higher tire pressure keeps hot/cold fluctuations down. As for recommendations, my manualadvises using what's recommended in the door sticker, door sticker advises 41 front and 38 rear, and the max pressure posted on the tire itself is 52 I think.
Tire pressure recommendations have too many variables too - 3.2 has different recommendations than 2.0, plus I'm running 17" all season and not the 18" performance summer. |
RE: Tire Pressure
B5's have a smaller profile tire than the B7's + rim/tire size will change also thetire brand can change your PSI, rim width, and side wall strength all variables.Good luck finding a happy medium.
