There is a warning notice in my new A3's compartment about not relying totally on TPM. But I couldn't find it anywhere in the user manual, nor did the sales guy showed me how it worked.

Is it a standard feature? If so, how do you operate the darn thing?

I've got the parts sitting in my garage to do it; maybe I'll get to it this weekend.

 

That's disappointing. I thought TPM is made mandatory by US DOT?

I think I will go for this instead. Much easier to install. Just sensors in the wheels, and the signals are sent to the display via wireless. I had this installed on my Porsche and it works realy well. Not too expensive neither. Around $200-300.

That is a good choice. I had it in my last two cars and really liked it - much better than the OEM system IMO. It's sitting in my garage now; I didn't want to mess up the OEM look of the car.
