Will out of state 2006 A3 meet CA smog?

Hi,

I am thinking about purchasing a 2006 A3 from a seller in Indiana and was wondering if all A3's sold in the US meet California smog requirements. The car was originally sold in Georgia. I asked the seller to look for a sticker regarding smog/emissions but he couldn't find one other than the one that states it conforms to Federal safety regulations.

Thanks in advance for any insights.

Regards, Cort Chambers

good question

I thought there was a sticker under the hood that would tell if CA okay.

I bought my 2007 in VA, now in CA. Need to register soon so I guess I'll find out. If you still need to know I can check my hood

From their website http://www.dmv.ca.gov/pubs/brochures...cts/ffvr29.htm

Does This Apply to Someone Moving to California?
If you are moving to California from another state, you may register a new federally certified vehicle in California if it was first registered by you in your home state, or for military personnel, in your last state of military service. When applying for vehicle registration in California, you must provide evidence of your vehicle's previous registration and that you were a resident of the other state when you acquired the vehicle.

I'm assuming if you can register it then it will pass any smog tests required.
