Default "J-plug" on water pump?? various stealership finds

so my 2003 B6 1.8T was at the stealership for a fuel pump replacement, and they quoted me 250 bucks to fix a coolant leak located in the "J-plug at the water pump".........i looked around there but i couldnt see much. Does anyone know what they are talking about?

Also, they noted a hissing sound in the engine. It appears to be in the vicinity of a plastic piece witch comes off the intake manifold i beleive. If lookin on the top of the engine, it is located in the upper right hand corner. It is a hard plastic piece with 3 ports on it, and its sort of shapped like a "Y". If i squeeze the hose coming into the bottom of the "Y", the hissing stops. I cant seem to find an air leak though. I never remember the hissing noise in the car before....but it has been running someone crappy lately (lost a 1/4 mile to a stock passat, poor throttle response, turbo lagg). Does anyone know what this "Y" piece is? If noone knows what im talking about Ill post a picture when i get a chance.

The j piece goes into the thermostat housing not the waterpump. You have to look under the intake for the leak. The y shaped piece making noise is a suction jet pump. It creates an internal vacuum leak that can cause your issue. Both are very common problems.
