Default $499 for an APR Flash??

OK that seems like a lot for a quick download on my ECU. There has to be people doing this on their own...would you guys agree?

Doesn't anyone have the software?

Your telling me that buying a $30,000 car and having to pay another $500 for basically a whole new engine is alot? Common dude. I woulda payed 1000, and thats no joke. You pay for all the development and time that went into the program. Plus you get free upgrades for life. Anyon will tell you a chip is the best gain for your money.

Yeah, I can see spending that on a chip (hardware), but a quick software flash I thought would be a lower cost. My question is are do people have other ways of flashing the system? For example is there a program floating around out there somewhere?

Also, what do you mean by VAGed in your signature?

The same amount of time goes into the R&D of the flash vs the physical chip, if not more. I say probably more R&D goes into the flash because there is more chance of it toasting your ECU since they are essentially doing "hot swap" code.

If programming the ECU flash is anything like coding BIOS flash for PC's and the like, $500 is a flash in the pan because its a royal pain in the ***.

AND even if there was a warez version of the ECU flashing software floating around are you REALLY going to trust it? if you do, your far more trusting than anyone I've ever known. One slip up and your car is toast until you get a new ECU

Damn good numbers. You won't find a better bang for the buck. $500 is nothin, just do it.

I would say get the chip first. But once you are chipped, you're gunna need new rubber really soon
Especially if they are already worn .

i always think about chipping or flashing, but i just hear about engines dying faster that way.

has anyone been chipped for a few years and put like 50-60k on and still not had any problems?
