01 B5 Rim Fitment

A4 Rim Clearance....

Looking to get some new rims, I have an 01 A4 with stock 15" rims. As it stands right now it appears as if the tires only just clear the suspension... how big can I go ? I suppose I'd have to get some real low-profile tires... my mechanic said spacers is the worst thing I could do to my car...
