I have been looking at all the post and i have noticed all the power coming out of the 1.8T's which brings me to my question should i buy a cheaper 1.8T and mod it alot to get it faster than a s4. Pors and cons? Also what is teh max i can get out of a 1.8T? S4? The main mod to the 1.8T would be a K04 upgrade.

 

You can mod a 1.8t to get more hp than a stock S4, but not one that is mildly modded.

Still... is it all about being "better" than an S4, or is it about trying to tune the A4 into a great machine?

 

KO4 1.8T will not be quite as fast as a stock biturbo S4. And if you drop a chip in the S4, it will have ~300hp and more torque.
An S4 is about as modifiable as a 1.8T, the difference being that the S4 starts two levels up from a 1.8T. If all you plan on doing is a KO4 and supporting mods, you will be right around stock S4 levels of acceleration, but if you're going to mod your new car regardless, even though an S4 will cost more, it will be faster. Always.

 

Yup, I'd rather have a big turbo 1.8t then stage 1 or stage 2 s4. With a k04 i doubt you could beat a chipped s4, you can make around 350whp on stock 1.8t internals. Don't know much about modded s4's although I did see a dyno of a stage 3 s4 that was only 324 awhp, plus it weighs a couple hundred pounds more so I'm pretty sure I can give that stage 3 s4 a good run, and will def beat him soon

 

A friend of mine beat my S4 with his heavily modded 1.8t when my S4 only had a chip and exhaust. Embarassing.

what what done to his 1.8T? I am trying to find which for the same price would give me the same performance. It sounds like s4is most promising.

 

Everything.... including rebuilding the engine so it could fit a big turbo (can't remember which one).

 

i have seen a s4 with twin k04's and a handful of other mods including, exhaust, chip, intake, injectors, exhaust manifold and high flow cat. he dyno'd @ 415hp. it is faster than a z06

 

With my ko4 setup i have beat wrxs and door to door with moddeds, so im pretty sure i could beat a s4, especially after i get er back from the shop next week.
