1998 Audi A4 dashboard problems

I recently bought a 1998 Audi A4 from a private party with 190k miles on it. However there was no owners manual included. I do have several questions regarding the central dash board which relay's some information but seems to be going bad and I'm having a hard time understanding the numbers it is trying to represent.

Looking at it, the top number seems to be the temperature outside, but the bottom set of numbers is what confuses me. I've seen numbers range from 480-530 while driving at different speeds and I'm not understanding what it's trying to relay.

Additionally, there are two knobs, it seems the one of the right resets the odometer when pushed in and the knob on the left... I'm not sure what it does other than changing the brightness when rotated to clockwise/counter-clockwise.

My last question! I had recently replaced the battery and I'm not sure if it is related to the electrical system or not but when I am driving over 100 km/h I'm hearing a beep that goes off every now and then and a light shows up right above where the outside temperature is displayed. Does anyone know what I can do to disable it?

I extremely appreciate the time for anyone who has had a chance to read my laundry list of problems with the car and help me with my endeavours!

The 480 to 530 number sounds like the number of miles (kilometers for you) until you run out of gas. It should decrease as you burn through your fuel. It also adjusts slightly based on the speed you are currently driving.

The beep is probably for the speed warning. You can set this to warn you that you are driving to fast (which happens easily in an Audi). Not sure of the procedure for a 1998 model to disable it.
