2000 b5 CD player problem
Hey guys...
here's my problem:
I need to replace my stock deck in my car. The cd player doesn't work and i luv my cd's... umm, what are my options? i'd like to maybe either replace the stock deck with another stock deck or maybe a screen... anyone have pics of there radio set-ups... maybe even some navigation or something... I'll will most likely be adding a sub and amp in the near future...
thanks guys...
cheers

In 2000 is it the concert or symphony, i just replaced my stock deck w/ bose with an '05 kenwood excelon last week. with the right harness it was a cinch and sounds much better than stock. i will post a right and pics when i get home today, along with the part numbers.
Well if your planning on running a sub and an AMP then you shouldn't go with the stock set-up, go for an alpine or sony deck, those look sweet, and can hadle a lot of power
i'm not even thinking that i need that much power, just gonna go with something that packs a nice little kick... ummm, I might know someone selling a kenwood unit that plays cd's, mp3's and dvd's... something with a 6-7" screen or something...
Lets see some pics???

unfortunately, mine doesn't have a screen, would've been nice though. I installed the kdc-x789 using metra harness 70-1787 for bose amplified systems, and metra trim piece 99-100. i had the concert radio in mine so i don't have a double din opening. Install was quick and easy. doing a dvd player setup is more complex though, my buddy has the kenwood kvt-911dvd that we installed on his galant vr4 and we had wires going everywhere cause there is the head unit and the control box that is about the size of a medium amp. i'll post pics this evening in a new thread.
but i think he wants 1000 cdn for the unit, then theres added costs with the cost of installation and whatever cost for wires and stuff... still not bad, just bad timing...
anyone else with pics of there audio setup's???

Thats a bit pricey isn't it? Anyway check the archives on this topic. I have seen it a fair bit. I think there is a problem with running our stock speakers with an aftermarket amp or cd player or something... I'm not too sure but I know there can be a problem that arises, so be wary. If it dont make the car go faster.... who cares. :-)
Sorry can't help more.

i appreciate the write back... thinking maybe stopping at an audio shop on my way home just to see some different options... i'm really liking the idea of a screen to fill that big area the stock deck will leave... it'll most likely be a screen or another stock deck that works... that would be perfect
