2001 A4 Brake lights

Hi all;
I just recently bought a 2001 A4 1.8T Quattro and it seems to have a ton of problems, mostly electrical. the first problem I want to tackle is the brake lights, they seems to be on as soon as I start the car, and they only get a very slight bit brighter when I press the brakes. This includes the high back light in the rear window. The warning light about the brake light failure is on (complete with annoying beep) and the cruise doesn't work either, which may be related. I have seen a lot of different posts on this forum about brake lights but none seem to be of ones with the lights on whenever the car is running and only get slightly brighter when the pedal is pressed. Is it possible this is from the pedal switch? I've seen this kind of problem before with RV's with bad grounds. I tried to have a look at the switch but the panel under the dash seems to be a challenge to remove, any trick to that?

Thanks in advance for all the help.

Ok, so I got that problem figured out, it was just one bulb in the brake lights, someone had put in a single filament when it should've had a dual filament, i hand't checked it yet because it seemed to be working. the next problem I have is the power windows don't work, some have said something about a central comfort module. Any help on that??

Thanks!
