Default 2002 Audi A4 1.8 Short Shifter

I've looked into buying a short shifter for my2002 Audi A4 1.8Tand have found prices all over the board. My car is a 5 speed and the average price seems to be around 150-300 dollars for a high-end short shifter. I've also looked at Ebay and found shifters for 30-80 dollars and am wondering if anyone has tried out the cheaper models. I don't race in competitions but do push my audiand don't want a sloppy short shifter that feels like it's from toy's R us.....or even worse bust in half. Any input on 2002 Audi A4 1.8T 5-speed short shifters would be greatly appreciated.

Here'san Ebay page I looked at:

Oh, ive been looking into it too, everyone will tell you there is no point in wasting your money on anything but the ebay shifters. Thats for you to decide, I still dunno what to do, but most people will say B and M for quality, and no one complains either about it. Price is about 200-210, but i found that Gmg has it for 179, so if you plan on going that way, this will save you a couple bucks.

That looks like a really nice short shifter. It just seems to me that the shifter should only cost around 50 bucks due to it being a simple piece of metal. I read a post on Audiforums that said the Ebay model for a 1999 installed and worked great, so far. I need to knowwhat year ranges of short shifters will workwith a 2002 Audi A4 1.8T 5-speed. I'm not sure when the transmissions changed and effected theshifters. Might as well trya cheap shifter out first and see if it works......any thoughts?

I have a neuspeed because of the factory pastic hip joint. I wanted metal bushings which meant I had to replace the whole assembly, basically the same procedure with less steps.

Ebay short shifters are generally nicely reviewed here. I have one and I'm pleased with it.

Would a 1996 short shifter fit in a 2002 also?
