i would just take the airbox out it takes like 5mins.(on my B7)

 

lucky you!! B6 airbox is HUGE, took me like 30 minutes to get it only UNSCREWED, then removed hear shield and unscrew some more. Its good to take out entire box, cuz airways get really dirty and filthy. It also took me about 30 minutes to clean airways and box, thanks for previous owner i had bee and some bugs stock to my factory airfilter not mentioning tons of other crap

 

They come pre-oiled, most of them.

After while, you need to clean the filter. (I use soap and water, then rinse with water)

after its clean and dry, you re-oil (recharge it) with k&n filter charger otherwise known as oil. It can be purchased at any auto parts store, and is in a spray can.
