2004 or 2005 a4 convert.

hello to all,
and thank you in advance.
if you could please assistwith any informationregarding a 2003,2004,2005a4 convert.
i am presently researchingpossible purchase. of above year(s) with less than 40,000 miles.
i own and have owned several 3 series bmw'sand work on them myself most of the time.
i tend to keep my cars for about 8 years/ 150 K miles.
my questions specifically:
is the 2003,2004, 2005a4 reliable
is there something specific..major like a/c or transmission issues
what are the little common broken things..small electrical glitches...radio...tail light issues...air bag light? cel light?
anything about the convert. top?
** what is the difference between the different engine packages 1.8, 3.0
***what is your recommendation for purchase/package ? warranty?
again i work on my cars and motorcycles myself...so i am not afraid of diiging in.
****anything that should be looked at before purchase

RE: 2004 or 2005 a4 convert.

** 1.8T is a 4 cyl turbo while the 3.0 is a V6. The 1.8T is good for modding and has better gas mileage while the 3.0 is more reliable for daily driving.

*** I would get a warranty simply because if you can't fix it yourself and has major issues, the parts and labor aren't cheap!

hopefully, people with the b6 and b7 can help you out more, if you were getting a 96-01 i could answer more of your questions.

I don't know much about the verts, but I have a B7 ('07)2.0T and love it. The B7 started in '2005.5, so I think the vert did too. If I were you, I would get the 1.8T or 2.0T as opposed to the 3.0/3.2L if you want to mod. If you don't realy wanna mod your car performance wise, then I would go the 3.0/3.2L route. One thing is for sure, and that is you should buy the newest car you can get. The newer car will be In better condition(depending on previous owner), It will bea nicer car, and it will be the most updated style wise.
