3.0 plugs and coils? / fuel sender?
Hello Friends, my 2003 3.0 must be mad at me, but i wanna make her happy again. I have a cyl 6 misfire, so i bought spark plugs. I am just wondering if it was a bad coil, how could i tell? So it sure looks like just changing the plugs on this car is gonna be a project huh? I just noticed im gonna have to move some things around to get to a couple of them. Audi says you need a special coil puller that attaches to the ribs on the coil. Is there something else i can use to remove them??? (thats safe)??///
I figured I get about 300 miles to a full tank, My gas guage is def. not working properly. It says i have about a half tank when it is just about empty. I also noticed that the feature on the dash that counts down the miles left is faulty also. (reads at what the needle would be at.) but i would assume this problem has to do with one of the two fuel senders. How could i fiqure out which one is faulty if thats the case at all??/// Thanks Much! -Glen |

All you have to do to tell if you have a bad coil is swap the cyl 6 coil with cyl 5 and see if the misfire moves. You don't need the audi coil puller tool, you just have to pry carefully up on the coil, you may scratch side of coil plastic, but that is only cosmetic.
Chances are you do have a bad fuel sender. If you have a VAG-COM you can go to 17 instrament cluster and then measuring value blocks and look for the readings on the sensors. I think it is MVB 3, 4 or 5, I cant remember. It will have a ohm reading and a calculated amount of fuel in liters. It adds the two sensors together to get your reading. If one looks to be off then replace it. |
