ya the 1.8T's have better gas mileage than the 2.8's or 3.0's. as for the readout, your probly just driving faster. i never trust those things anyways, there always off

Now the computer says 405 miles )) I drove like 15 miles today. So yeah, computer is watchng you!!! ))

I have a 03 1.8T manual, no, no mods that i'm aware about. But those 440 you can see when you have a full tank, 20 miles after you might see 390 left ))

 

Oh yeah, i'm using 93 (Chicago Suburbs) octane if it matters.

 

I think someone said it above, but I believe the weather/ temp has a lot to do with it:

case in point; i live in St. Louis, so this winter when I would fill up when it was around 25 degrees my DIS would show 380-390. I filled up the other day, it was 83, and I had 450.

Of course the DIS is never that accurate, but its nice to know that im not the only one who has wondered about this.

 

It all has to do with how you're driving before you fill up. About a week ago i was driving the crap out of my car and filled up. After fill-up, it showed 380 miles. Just yesterday, i was driving easy on the freeway right before filling up. After fill-up, it showed 550 miles. It just calculates some average of your recent driving and factors in how much gas is in the tank.

Regardless, it's never accurate so it doesn't really matter what it says right after you fill up.
