I have a 97 A4 2.8 Quattro. The original keyless entry remotes no longer work, to get a new remote from a dealer is ridiculous $$$. I looked on ebay and have found some remotes. There are two different styles, the older style (no switch blade key) which is what my car originally had and the newer style (with switch blade key). The old style says it is for 94-97 the new style says 97-03. The new style has a different FCC code than what my remote originally used. I would prefer the new style because I can purchase the remote and an uncut key and have the key cut for a resonable price. Is it possible to get the new remote and have it re-programmed for my car or am I stuck with the old model remote? Also does anyone have another source besides eBay where remotes are sold at a more resonable price than a dealer?

as much as i would like to say go ahead and do the ebay thing.. id have to deter you from it, i bought a remote and blank key on ebay and theres not a dealer in town that will cut the blank (said the metal its made from will break their machine)

 

Yeah the HAA Brass those keys are made from is so strong, it causes damage to their cutters, you have to get the lower grade metal for them to cut it, or send it to germany.
