Default 98.5 A4 owners? (k04 for sale...maybe)

since im about to be 25 g's in the hole because of school my grand plans of a gt3076r, built head, and standalone aren't looking too good. so i decided on a more "economy" setup, gt28rs w/ unitronics. which should hold me over till i can afford the better setup.

so now i need to make some money so i was thinking of selling my k04 w/ TAP software for someone's k03 and stock ECU plus a little cash. so if there's a 98.5 a4 (or any other year with a compatible ECU) that's looking to chip, you could pick this setup up for less, yet get more power. or any chipped guys out there that have a compatible ECU that just want a little more power, this would also be a good deal.

this is still just a feeler, im not completely sure i want to go back to a k03 for a little while lol, and i most likely wont be doing the trade until february, but i just wana see if there is any interest for this.

*********
condition of the k04- the miles are unknown, it came on the car when i got it. The german guy i bought this car from kept it in meticulous condition and stressed to me the importance of letting the turbo warm up and cool down. He also owned a b5 s4 avant and just got a brand new porsche, so i have little doubt that he cared for the turbo properly.

While it has been in my possession i have always let the turbo warm up properly, keeping the boost below 5 psi (if any at all) until oil temp was above 150*, and i always let the car idle for ~2 min before i shut it off and didn't drive it hard the last few minutes. so the turbo should be in perfect working condition. if someone out there is interested and i remove my turbo and find any defects, i will let you know before we make the trade.

software info- TAP is like the grandfather of tuning companies. They were around before most of the audi tuning companies out there today and have a solid reputation. When i first got the car it was holding 16psi and as the car climbed to redline it spiked at 19psi. after fixing some vac leaks, it now boosts 23psi within 2k and holds that until ~6k where it starts falling off. spool up is ridiculously fast and it is a torque factory.

i'll also consider just straight up selling it, but the price has to be right.

i'll try and get a video of the boost gauge and speedo later so you can see how it performs for yourself

don't you have a 99.5? i dont think the ecu's are compatible but if you just wanted the turbo i could do that. you dont need anything else with it, you use the stock oil lines, unless you wana trade yours for mine for some reason lol. and with the TAP software you use the stock FPR. if you were to go with GIAC you would need a 5 bar.

when going from a k03, there is nothing extra needed going to a k04 besides software, which is why i wana find someone with a 98.5. it would be a direct swap, turbo and ecu for turbo and ecu. i just need an ecu so i have one for the unitronics software. and the k03 i just want to have as a backup, or to sell to put towards the 28rs. you would be paying less than a chip and getting more.

I have a 98, dont know for sure if it has the same stuff as the 98.5, but i would assume so. I would be interested in doing a swap. The only problem is the down time. Let me know if your interested. Oh yea my car has 115k miles and have no idea if the turbo has been swapped.

i dont really care bout the mileage on the k03, i just want one as a backup incase anything happens with my gt28rs. as long as it doesn't have any flaws and there is no shaft play or anything like that than it'll do. and i dont know about the ECU compatibility, i'll have to do some research. but im still a month away from actually doing this, just gauging interest, so keep that in mind
