Hey guys. New to the forum!
I have a concern about my 98 Audi A4 Quattro 5 speed. I'll be as specific as possible.
Just purchased my Audi about 2 months ago. Upon driving my car home from where I had purchased it, I was on the freeway driving about 65-70+ mph.
I noticed that something was wrong with my cluster or at least the tachometer.
Speed was accurate but I was taching 5000 to 5.5k on the freeway! freaked me out. The car drives normal but at high rpms. I did some research and found that some of the 98 audi a4's come with a 97 cluster. I checked my cluster and it said 97 on it. I was also told that someone may have put a 4 cylinder cluster into my 6 cylinder audi before I bought it. The car has straight piping but I don't ever hear the engine roaring at high rpms. Could this be a miscalculation? I was also told that the clutch may be wearing out... I'm stumped over this and I was to get it fixed the right way. I shift when I hear that the time is right. no longer focus on the tach.
