I have a 1999 a4 2.8 30v 5sp manual quattro, I need a new engine. is there somewhere I can buy or get a built 2.8 engine? Or should I try to swap in a VR6 or a 2.7t?

 

Why do you need a new engine??? I dont think a vr6 will work.

 

Well I ran the engine far too long on no oil (unbeknownst to me till I stopped), it was old to start (150k miles) and I plan on giving it to a friend, but refuse to give a shitty car. I could repair the engine if I cared enough, rather have a new engine. though.

 

well sorry to hear about engin but i have seen those for a bit less than 2 grand that have been rebuilt and steam cleaned, let me give you email- jamie@carpartsdirectllc.com try that or go to carpartsdirect.com and do a search, shouldnt be much more than 2 grand if not less.

I've heard that the 2.8 can't handle alot of pressure, and if I wanna turbo or supercharge it I wanna make sure it won't blow

 

the v6 2.8 is a cruiser not a sports car even though it takes its time to get up-to speed ( which is quite good ) its not a shy car with all the power you need

 

Where did you hear that from?? The 2.8 is very capable of handling the power of the PES supercharger. Adding a turbo is almost out of the question though. It's far too expensive.
