A4 Automatic Trans Rear Seal....
Hello-
I changed my transmission oil last night and noticed my rear seal is leaking on my automatic. 2001 A4 1.8T. Didn't wan't to take to much time to evalutate the R&R of the tail shaft but was wondering if anyone has done this on their A4 and how difficult of a repair this is.
Thanks

Ok , It appears to be an easy project, jack car, mark shaft , remove bolts, push shaft to the side, put 2 bolts in the flange, unbolt the t40 inner bolt. shaft should be removed. Now what is the part number for the seal??? 2001 a4, 1.8T auto.
Yeah its an easy project, i think its a T45 torx for the center shaft bolt though. Call the dealer parts department and tell them you need the front prop shaft seal, There is a large o-ring on the tail housing of the tranny as well but i haven't really seen them leak.
Just pop out the seal with a small pry bar or screwdriver, lube up the new one and lightly tap it back and forth until its flush with the housing.
