A4 Black trim under door and bumpers?
Hello,
Im going to purchasing my first audi and I still cant figure this one out. Why is it that on some audi's the paint goes all the way around the bumpers of the car but some of them have the black bumpers Is it a certain package or something? Im aiming for a 2003 or 4 |

Some people paint them, and the USP package and S4's came with them matching the body color.

I believe the 2003 A4's still have the black lower part of the bumber and the 2004's don't.
However, the S4's always have all painted bumpers. As for the reason why, someone else needs to fill you in on that. :D |

Yea not sure why Audi decided not to paint them all from the factory. Pretty much everyone agrees that they look better painted...

I realized that some of the older Benzes and BMW's also have unpainted lower of the bumpers.
Is it so that the cars are able to go off-roading without worrying about scratching the bumpers? :D |

In Europe, there are a lot of unimproved (graded dirt) roads, so, unpainted lowers are good for people like me who actually drive their cars as they were meant to be driven.

Thanks guys. This is going to be a tough one for me. My next door neighbor is a car dealer and he told me if I tell him what I want that he'll buy it for me at the auction so now i have to tell him "Find the one that doesnt have the black bumper "
lol Another thing, has the denim blue color changed from 2003 to 2004, my cousin has an 04 but to me it seems more vibrant than the 2003, is it in my head? |

Dont buy one from an auction unless you want to risk having major problems.
These cars are the kind you want to have every record of everything thats ever been done. If you cant get that, then you at least want to have a thourough inspection done by an audi dealer. Otherwise, you will likely get a problem car. There isa small chance you wont, but definitely not a good way to buy an audi. So, you should be much more worried about the history of the car, than what kind of lowers it has. The lowers can always be painted later. |
