A4 doesn't start after fueling
 

Each time I fill my tank in my 2006 A4 my car won't start. Sometimes I have to crank it for about 15 seconds to get it to start. After it has started I don't have any other issues except that my check engine light is on. It doesn't have this issue except for the first time I start the car after filling the tank. Any suggestions?

If you have a check engine light, what's the code? Without a code....kind of a needle in the haystack sort of answers...

You may have dirt in your tank and when you fill it moves it around.....

Do you 'top off' the tank after it clicks off? If you do this you put excess fuel into the tank and some will get into the EVAP vapor hose and flood the car out. If you keep 'topping it off' it can damage the one way-purge valve.

Two 'reversed' evap hoses can cause this problem as well and it will only happen when you fill up - the hose that should be going into the closed evap purge solenoid is 'reversed' and going to the open side so when you put gas into your tank you force the intake to fill up with gas vapors......

Most likely the N80 valve. About a $20 part and takes a few minutes to change. To check this just unscrew your gas cap and then put it back on. Try and start the car and see if it gives you the same problem.

Could it be a fuel filter issue?

Here are the codes-
P0171 bank 1 too lean
P0089 fuel pressure regulator 1 performance

I researched both and the common cause of both is the filter, however there are plenty of other causes :/

could be a bad fuel filter, fuel pressure regulator, the n80 valve, cam lobe, but I'm guessing it's just either the valve or the fuel filter...that's where I would start....

Thank you for the help! I swapped out the N80 valve and just like that... The issue was solved!

However, I'm still getting a slight sputter when I come to a complete stop. It almost feels like it's about to die on me at times. The local shop mentioned the low pressure pump. I'm gunna run the codes again in the morning, as it's getting late here. Any other ideas?
