A4 Hybrid - does it exist?

Just having a debate with someone who's insisting they rented an A4 Diesel Hybrid last year, and as far as I know no such thing exists, or ever did...

Am I wrong?

I have read that there is an A4 Diesel that gets hybrid type mileage (50+/gallon). Only available in Europe. Not aware of an actual hybrid.
