Default a4 turbo upgrade

Im about to buy a 99 1.8L turbo quatro, 5spd, 75k miles and i am curious as to who here has done a turbo upgrade? Id like some links, info, feedback, any help would be nice. I think im leaning towards the ko4 kit i searched a little bit and found good reviews, i know exhaust is required for that kit, but what else? injectors? intercooler? ect. I want to do everything that is nessicary...This will be my daily driver, im not lookin to fly here, just want more power.

If you want power in the low end then a bigger turbo is not going to help you. K04's (as are most big turbos) are notorious for big turbo lag. A minivan will beat you to the next stoplight. But once you are on the highway, a k04 will mash hard and give you some sereious speed. You need to assess what you are trying to do with your car - not just add parts that sound good.

Are you chipped yet even?

But are you chipped? Simply chipping your car will give you a very noticable performance boost. Only costs $400-$500.

A K04 requires new software, so yes you need to be chipped. Though the software is different than simply chipping without upgrading the turbo.
The K04 system is a kit. Upgrading to just the turbo will do nothing for you at all. You need software to control fuel mapping, etc, larger injectors, a 5 bar fuel pressure regulator... It normally requires exhaust also.

You still didn't answer my question. Have you chipped you car?

**** - my bad. Man, I am losing it lately. I didn't see that he was "about to buy"

But who thinks about buying a K04 before they even buy the car??? If you want something thats going to beat all your friends buy something else - the A4 is not a fast car. If you want a nice ride with some punch, buy the A4 and chip it. K04 it if you plan to drive really fast.

IMO, a K04 equipped car makes a horrible daily driver (unless you make a very long commute every day)
