Default Aching for an A4 but..

Hello people,

Am new here, live in london, UK.
I am aching for an audi a4 and just looking around for a 2nd hand model. Any suggestions on what sort of max mileage I should consider? Is 70k+ worth considering? These are ex company cars so mainly motorway miles. This will be my first car...
Many thanks, drive safe!

Go for the 1.8t engine with quattro. Best for modding and maintenance. 70K+ is fine as long as you check specific issues first.

The most obvious issues are (no matter what the mileage may be):
Diverter Valve
upper control arms
coolant sensor (not the thermostat)

Other items that may need attention in a high mileage A4 are:
timing belt/tensioner
turbo line hoses (for leaks)
water pump
thermostat
clutch

And, of course the turbo should be considered, but that's hard to assess.

German performance cars require care and attention; neglect will result in serious repairs and expense. Care and attention can be defined as simply being disciplined about the schedule of maintenance and immediately dealing with a problem when it arises. You can NOT let a problem linger like you can with a Volvo or Toyota. If a problem comes up, the longer you wait to fix it, the worse it will get; it will cause other items to fail and your wallet will suffer exponentially. But if you treat your Audi with respect and care, you will be rewarded with a superior driving experience.

Thanks for the very usefuland informative replies! Much appreciated!

If you have time/inclination/interest it would be very helpful if you visited www.cargiant.co.uk
did a search for an audi A4 and let me know what you think! UK is expensive and we pay alot for things so bear that in mind. FYI £1 (british pound) = $1.7 approx
Of course, you would be doing me a big favour by doing so, but hey if you dont ask...

many thanks in advance,

k

I'd look deeper into these (they are all 1.8t - I think it's the best model of choice):
