Hi all, I am in the process of shopping for my first Audi and it is probabaly going to be either an 07 or 08 A4 certified with about 30K miles. In reading different reviews (especially edmunds) it sound as if the 07 has a lot of problems burning through oil very quickly to the point where many have to keep a quart in their trunk!

Is this a common problem and if so does it also happen on the 08 or is this just a case where only people who have bad experiences actually take the time to write these reviews? I really want to own an Audi but want to make sure I am not getting myself into a situation with a lot of known issues. Thanks for any help!

 

I went down the same path with an '07 A4 cab. The oil consumption issues have plagued my car since day 1. My car has a CPO, but the dealer has been little help. 1 qt/1500mi is "acceptable". I am not leaking oil anywhere - long term, the heavy oil consumption could cause some very expensive fixes to be needed plus its not very economical to be using so much oil. Love the car, the ride, looks, ergonomics but I will be ditching this car at the end of the CPO.
