Air Conditioner ???
How do you turn on the a/c in a 2002 A4? I assume you put it on "auto" and set the temp to 70 or below. Today it was 80 degrees outsideand I tried turning on the a/c, but if the air doesn't get any colder than that I'm in big trouble this summer. Every car I've owned before used freon and was self adjusting. I'm not used to the auto features. Help please.
Auto just keeps the climate a certain temp. Ifyou just turnyour ac to 70 it will blow air at 70 non stop on auto it will bring the interior temp in the car to 70 then shut off then come back on again when it starts to get warm again kinda like the ac in your home
Sounds like you have a problem.
Setting it to 70, it should blow nice and cold air until the cabin is 70, then sut off for a few.
If its blowing warm air, you need to have the a/c looked at.

If you have less than 20 pounds / sq. in. the compressor
clutch will not engage. You can add R134a with lubricant and stop leak.
WalMart sell one pound cans for $20. The can also includes a pressure guage.

I can't get the ECON button to go off, and my owners manual is packed away because I'm moving. Anyone have any suggestions on why this is happening?
Added: I found my manual but it doesn't address this problem.

There is only two reasons for the econ not to come off.
1. the refrigerant is empty and probably has a leak in the system somewhere.
2. someone replaced the a/c control head and didn't set the basic settings on the temp blend doors.
