Air conditioner not responding
I am the original owner of a 2000 A4 1.8T quattro and recently I've had an interesting development. My climate control panel is now completely unresponsive. At first I could turn it on or off only occasionally and usually after pressing the "auto" button, but if I turned it off it would usually come back on after a few seconds and stay on. Now it's on all the time and there's nothing I can do about it. None of the buttons work- I can't turn the defrosters on, I can't change the temperature, I can't do squat. As it's set to 72 degrees and winters coming, I think I may be ok, but the lack of defrosters is going to kill me once it frosts. Has anyone else had this problem? I'm not sure, but I think it either happened or got worse after my battery died and I replaced it, although that may be completely unrelated.
All help is appreciated, thanks. Bill |
RE: Air conditioner not responding
Sounds unrelated. I'm thinking the Climate control is unit is dying. Might want to think about picking up a used one.

RE: Air conditioner not responding
I have found a used unit on e-bay for a '00 a4 but that unit has heated seats. I'm assuming the unit will work with my non-heated-seat climate control, is that true?
Also, is this the kind of fix I can do by myself? Is there a site/book that might go over how to replace a climate control unit? Thanks, Bill |
RE: Air conditioner not responding
stop using the cup holder above your radio stuff always spills out onto the radio and climite control causing the buttons not to work
