I know it's been said over and over how the air intake does nothing for a turbochrged A4. And ive seen almost every air intake made for a 2004 A4 1.8T. But being that i dont have the money [sm=smiley19.gif] to get an intake kit, i was comtemplating the idea of making my own. And please dont laugh. From what i can tell, it's simply a matter of removing the stock airbox and installing piping to the intake with an air filter on the end. I know im simplifying it way too much and theres a lot more to it but im thinking i have the basic idea down......any input[sm=smiley25.gif][sm=smiley25.gif][sm=smiley25.gif][sm=smiley25.gif]
RE: Air Intake??
An intake will help you eninge because it replaces the factory hose which likes to collect heat. if you end up making your own get a polished pipe so it reflecs heat. dont forget about IAT and MAF
Just some follow up questions......for the MAF and the IAT, i understand the idea behind the MAF but i can tuely say that i dont know squat about this IAT.....fill me in....and also, installing these on the new intake pipe...whats the deal with thtat...is it something i can simply drill a hole and place in....or am i going to have to not be lazy and do some work. Also, the filter itslef.....can i use a K&N intake from something like one of thee new Typhoon Intake systems? Sorry for all the questions....tryin to learn as much as possible before diving in.

Im likin the intake from HKS but the thing is, if i do decide to make my own....what is the piping that im using.....and where am i getting it....id get the short ram air from HKS but m hearing that the Cold Air Intake is better and no one but www.evoms.com has one. So building my own is looking the best. Should i use parts from pre-maid systems.....like the K&N i was talking bout....or can i go somewhere to get the parts.
I have a pipercross viper induction system that I had installed on my volvo ( upgraded to an audi recently), would that work on the 1.8t engine? I'm assuming all I would need to do is take the air box out and replace it with the pipercross (using a different samco hose). thanks ~joey
