Audi A4 Quattro 2.8 1997 Radio Problem

2 Attachment(s)
Hi to all,
I'm trying to resolve an issue with my radio, Is working but I have no sound.
This is the story:
6 months ago battery when bad I replaced it and then for like for 4 month I did not reset the code on the radio. Radio was working at that time. Then I lended the car to my dad, who, by some inexplicable reason removed the cd changer. Later I found the radio code, got the radio working and I was surprise that I was not able to get sound out of the radio.
When I checked the trunk I see both cables loose, the CD changer and the amplifier..meaning I don't have any of them on the trunk.
Problem is I'm not sure if I had the amplifier before, since I never saw it. So here is my question:
Does the radio work (volume, sound) with out the amplifier and/or the cd changer?
Thanks.

If I recall correctly the amplifier is what sends sound to the rear speakers and without it you would get no sound. Not sure if that is true for the front speakers as well. I think they all came with an amplifier, but I am not 100% sure about that.

Edit: Also, that looks like duct tape on the connector. Since that tape has metal fibers it could be causing a short. Remove it and put electrical tape on.
