Is the Audi dealer correct?
 

After you guys helped me with finding out where my car's power has vanished too I phoned Audi to see if they had the part.

The part I am after is a small hose, part number #06B 133 783 AA

Now when I called on Sat they said they needed to order one in and it was £4 something. So I called back today and tried to order one.

BUT this kid on the phone says theat I cant buy that part as its part of a whole assembly and the assembly costs £45+!

WTF?? All i need is a stupid little hose and they wanna make me buy a whole assembly? I think the AA at the end of the code may be significant as when I tried to find on online all I could come up with was #06B 133 783 BC

I really need some help here guys. Is this kid just thick, are Audi trying to rip me off or do I really have to buy the whole assembly?

Ive found this picture online, same engine as mine, I have circled where the hose is.

The part that needs replacing is just a short thin hose about 7-8 inches long. Its just under the plastic housing and is slightly bent in shape.

I cant see why you cant fit a piece of pipe your self but ill wait and see your picture when you have the time so I can get a better idea, it sounds like a simple enough job and there are many ways to sort this kind of issue without going to rip off dealers

yeah seems stupid that you can just buy the one piece of hose thats damaged.

You can actually see the hose in the picture I posted but only one end of it. It sits in a really stupid place and get jammed between the plastic housing and a connection at the end of another pipe. So the hose that needs replacing is always getting pinched.

If I pay £45 for a replacement and it doesnt fix my loss of power and high revs while idle, I will strangle the mechanic! :D

If ditching the plastic housing will solve your problem, I'd say that's the way to go...just a thought :-)

i have the 1.8t engine and i just replaced a hose located in a similiar spot. the L hose. it had a tear in it. and now i've got my boost back. change it yourself. dont listen to some zit faced kid at the stealer. he probly has no idea what he's talking about. take the plastic cover off. look at the ends of the hose to see the shotty one time clamps. rip them off and replace the piece with some new reinforced hose and screw clamps. any auto store will probly be able to help you. then you will feel your boost again.

I think if you dont have the skill to replace it yourself, go to some local mechanic to see what they can do... as for the dealership, I can't say what they told you is a rip of, but I guess probably, they can't just order for what part you've missing, it comes with a bundle, my father owns a BMW 745, it has a very very tiny leak at the joint of water tank and cooler, we went to dealership, and think that we can just replace the pipe, but no we were told to replace the entire set + tank, coz thats what they will get when order they part we wish to replace. And the total cost is at $ 450, we refused to do that and went to home depot and bought a plastic sealer, for now no more leaks. But at the same time, if your car has warranty on it be really careful of what you do and where you bring your car to, coz those dealership will claim that you violate their wattanty agreements in a lot of ways.....thats a f***ing rip off.
