audi transmission automatic
was driving home last night up slight slope, started to lose power. engine still ran smooth. rpms went up to 3500 speed was only 15 - 20 km/h. turn out fluid had leaked out. car towed to VW dealership. they say beaaring at back has seized causing torque converter seal to fail, also say that this will put metal shavings into tranny which they say means it now has to be replaced.
at no point during the drive last night was it rough or shuttering , just the loss of power.
does anybody think this trranny has to be replaced , or can the bearing and seal be replaced only???
