Default b5 help

alright so i've had my 99 silver b5 for about 2 weeks and cant wait any longer..need to start modding. im droppin it first.. seems like the right thing to do. couldnt justify paying that much more for coilovers when there really is no reason unless i had money to blow so im just going with shocks and springs (h&r) which should be installed early next week.
i also ordered clear corners and side signals to throw on. i have replaced headlights on other cars but never for an audi, or any german car for that matter..never messed with side signals tho--rice burners dont come with such a luxary . any help/tips at all would be greatly appreciated--as to every mod i do is coming out of the pocket of a student struggling through college..cant really afford to f too many things up..learning the hard way these nice *** cars come with a price--on everything. thanks a lot guys.

It's true the shock and spring setup is much cheaper than coilovers, but I think there's something to be said for the adjustable ride height and dampening offered by the coilover. But your gonna be very happy when you get it droped, it'll look great seen that set-up alot. As for the clear corners make sure you check out the DIY on this forum before you do it. Good luck with all your mods. I'm starting college in a month and trying to really MOD up before I go, cuz wont be much time or money for mods during school.

hey i feel ya... im doin the same thing while in college... all my mods (except the frign turbo)... should be done in about a year. Dont think u'll finish everything at some certain time... something always happens or starts to cost like no other... so my advice is to be patient. do little mod by little mod.. get used to the car with the mod.. then buy bigger and bigger.. piece by piece (worked great for me). I am doing the clear corners mod 2nite and i feel a lot more confident now that I've dont little things to the car. If you are a mechanic on the other hand... never mind what i said.. but if this is ur first audi.... little by little... get advice from certified people before doing certain things (new rims, shocks... etc).

DIY section for the sidemarkers (AMANDA) u know the admin. as for the clear corners u must have a early 99 since you have 2 piece head lights, but if u remove them the same way as 99.5 or newer b5 there are 2 phillips heads at the top to take out(very noticible) and 2 torx head screws down at the base. Then just pull it right out.

Before you start modding, the first thing to do is make sure everything works on the car, that there are no vacuum leaks.

Swap out every fluid (oil, steering, brake, transmission, differentials, coolant). run a vagcom for any codes and replace anything suspicious. Check when the timing belt was done

No sense having clear corners on a car that you cant afford to fix.
