Bad Injector or ICM Missing?

Ok, so I have posted on here about my misfires p300-p303 and still have not found out the problem.
I bought the car from a fella who disconnected the check engine light. He said he installed his custom air intake and threw away the stock one. He said the problems started shortly after this though how much I can believe is uncertain cause he later stopped answering all calls and basically told me it was my problem now.
Car drives fine, just shakes at idle. CEL is solid, then sometimes if flashes, then goes back to solid.
I replaced coils and plugs, Seafoamed, cleaned MAF, checked for vacuum leaks...no luck in getting rid of the misfires although each seemed to make the vibration lesser.
Local mechanic says its 2 injectors (but I'm having codes for three cylinders) so I am wondering how accurate he is. The local Audi dealership can't look at it for another 2 weeks being so busy. I was reading up on injectors and ICM and realize the ICM is supposed to be above my air filter, but as he changed it I don't have one.
My questions are...
1. Would the car run without an ICM?
2. Is my ICM the brown and chrome part above the filter?
3. Would 2 bad injectors cause 3 different cylinders to misfire only at idle?
4. Where the heck do I go from here?
