Default Battery light

Well, very unfortuantely I have't got to drive my car for like the last 4 days, so I missed it badly and went out to sit in it in the driveway. lol. I started it and the battery light stayed on after I started it. The voltage was low to well under 12v, it was like near 11v or so. So I revved the engine for a maybe a second and the voltage shot up to 14v and the battery light went away. Then the battery light didn't come on at all. Until.... I turned off my car and started it again. it did the same thing, but once again all I had to do was revv a little bit and it goes up to about 13.8v. Seems like the alternator isn't kicking in right away or something.

I also noticed that screen on the radio unit flickers now. I am sure that has something to do with the problem. Other than that the car runs and drives fine. Weird? Anyone else encounter anything like this before?

Usually batt. lights indicate low voltage output from the alt. How old is the battery? If it is 5 years old replace it and test the alt.

According to the guy I bought it from 3 weeks ago, the alternator was replaced when he had it, so that would probably be within the last 2 years. And the battery is supposed to be less than 6 months old. [:-] ???

Have the alt. tested. Check the battery.

It may be the brushes on the voltage regulator. They wear down after a while. A voltage regulator is about 50 for my 2.8 120A, which is a lot cheaper than 200 for a rebuilt alternator.
