Default best way to launch with tip tranny?

i have a 2002 a4 1.8t with tip. i havent had it long, and ive been playing around with launching it. i try to hold the brake to allow the rpms to rise to about 2500 and then dump the brake, kind of like its the clutch. when i take my foot off the brake though, the rpms drop back down for a split second resulting in slow take offs. does anyone have any suggestions as to how to launch off the line the fastest with a tiptronic tranny? if so i would appreciate it cause i want to race it at my hometowns next drags, but dont want to get dusted off the line by a honda civic.

You have a tip. You can't launch. You're going to kill your car if you keep doing what you're doing.

If you want to race, you should have gotten a manual.

Practice exactly what you are doing until you get it right. Power brake and get the revs up, you may be able to go a little higher than 2500. Then let off the brake and hit the gas.

You want to launch so that you are on the verge of getting wheel spin. Experiment with what rpm will allow you to launch and not bog down. Practice a little and you'll be able to launch that thing better than a lot of the folks driving manuals.

Of course, you dont want to do this all the time. But practice a little, and only do it at the strip, and you'll be fine.

i would also like to add that you need to use the brake the least amout as possible. do not just floor the brake and gas then dump the brake, find the "sweet spot" where you can rev up high enough to not bog off the line with the least amount of brake. the least amount of brake used the better it is on the car.

Turn off the ESP to get some wheel spin. I think 1500 rpm should be enough.
Release the brake and floor it.

so just keep doin what im doin huh? ok. yeah, texasboy, i hear ya, im not flooring both the brake and gas. im holding the brake just enough to stay still, while pressing the gas smoothly to raise the rev. i cant seem to get it to not bog down though. ill keep trying. but im little worried about what jeff said, he seems very knowlegable about most everything ive ever seen him post about. how bad is this for my tip tranny?

The reason the rpms drop is the boost isn't there yet, try holding till around 3.5. I've done a few brake stands till around 3000 rpm where the brakes began to slip, then just released and the car took off. But its a 2.8 so theres a bit more torque at that rev range. Of course I don't do it often.

What you're doing is the only way to launch an automatic. Where you're launching, like trey said, you're not really into boost yet. If you can get your turbo to spool and build some boost (boost gauges are key to know when to launch) you'll launch pretty hard, for a 1.8 that is. Try not to just sit on the brake/gas waiting for a light to go green because you're just building the tranny up with fluid when it's stationary.

you could put it in Neutral and just rev to 7k and then pull the gear lever into D and take off. jk that would be death
