Default Blew my 2005 A4 1.8T engine

About 3 days ago I blew my engine when my oil pump went out and I was not able to shut down the car safely before damage was done. According to my mechanic there is metal shavings through out the oil and engine. So now I was quoted at $6000 dollars for new engine except for head which I have to use existing one. Since I am already going to have to replace the engine I was thinking about modifications to the engine. Any suggestions on what I should do? Larger turbos? I am open to suggestion at this point and what is a few extra thousand on what I have to already spend? Is it worth it to buy a replacement engine and modify it or swap in a completely different engine?

No way a bottom end should cost you 6 grand. That'd already be built with race-ready components.

The eurospec 2.2L is only $5k

MAIN | ENGINES | 2.2T 20V STROKER

Eurospec Sport 2.2 4-Cylinder 20V Engines

Eurospec's 2.2 liter high performance stroker engines are the ultimate upgrade for those seeking to push the turbo envelope to the absolute limit. Using a 236mm block (16mm taller than a standard block), our engines are strengthened using special proprietary designed 83.0mm JE forged pistons, 4340 forged 100mm stroke crankshaft, 159mm forged connecting rods, ARP hardware, main bearing girdle, and German high performance bearings.

Our engines have been extensively tested and engineered and fully optimize the use of larger and higher pressure turbochargers. There is no replacement for displacement and this engine is second to none.

The Eurospec 2.2 liter 5 valve turbo engine is available as a short and long block for the 058 (Audi A4 and VW Passat) and 06A (Golf/Jetta/New Beetle) type applications. Engine deck cooling, recommended for racing applications, is available for an additional charge.

Short Blocks include:

[*]Forged 4340 100mm stroke crankshaft[*]Eurospec H-Beam 159 mm connecting rods w/ARP 3/8" bolts[*]Forged JE pistons in your choice of compression[*]New oil pump[*]11mm turbo head bolts[*]Main bearings, German high performance[*]Rod bearings, German high performance[*]Steel head gasket[*]Main bearing girdle with ARP hardware[*]Oil pan

Long Blocks include:

Includes everything above, plus:[*]New 5V cylinder head[*]Eurospec Turbo head bolts[*]Water pump[*]Timing belt pulleys and Eurospec tensioner

Cincy TT- What size turbo would you recommend to go with this setup? I read that since this is setup for a larger turbo.

a gt30r (gt3076r) would get you in the 500awhp range. Plus it should give you great spool with the extra displacement and if you keep the compression. If you wanted a little better responce, the gt3071r would be extremely streetable turbo (like a 2871r with a 1.8t).

Take the car to the dealer and have them replace it.

Failed oil pump ===> blown engine ===> covered under warranty for 4 years. Unless you drive the heck out of it, and have over 50k on it already.
