Boost Controller

Anyone have any good opinions about the Split Second boost controller? And should a 4 bar Fuel Pressure Regulator be used with it?

What hardware are you running? If you are stock, you are better off simply getting a chip. Boost controllers on Audi's (where the ECU determines A/F ratio based on sensors) are only good for the experienced and those with custom setups.

but the split second system was made for audis/vws in mind, it tricks the comp and you can run a higher boost with more fuel getting added without it being in limp mode. I wanted to see if anyone had it and used and to see what the pros and cons are.

RE: Boost Controller

yeah you are right - my bad. I did not recognize the name.

I know it as the BCS Boost Contoller.
The BCS actually manipulates the MAF and sensor data to trick the ECU into adding more fuel, etc.

It delivers a maximum of 14.5 psi of boost and a max of 32-35 hp. Not as much as the avg 16.5psi (48hp) from my GIAC chip. It is also meant for Drive By Wire vehicles I believe.

A Pro is that is does not alter the ECU programming and does not affect your warranty (as long as you removed the BCS before dealership visit). And you have total control of the boost levels. Good for a leased car...

Thanks alot. What about the FPR being a 4.0 bar? I know it is recommended on any chip.

Recommended but not especially needed. I run the stock 3bar fpr with my chip. On a k04 you would need the upgraded fpr.
I am not sure about the need for the Boost controller. My guess is that it is not needed.

This is how you install the controller
