Brake Indicator
 

Ok, so for the past couple of days my "BRAKE" light has been flashing every now and then. It flashes about six times and theres a beep with the first three flashes. It only happens when Im taking an on or off ramp fast (gotta love quattro). Anyone have any ideas?? Maybe a sensor? I looked it up in the manual and it said that it might be low brake fluid pressure. Let me know.

Probably low brake fluid. When you ake the turn fast, it probably trips a sensor, because the fluids are all moving around to one side or something. I had the same problem with my wiper fluid on ramps.

check your brake pads because i had that problem then i changed my pads and it went away

Add brake fluid , West2005 is right. When pads go the indicator will always be on.

I have a similar issue with the brake warning light flashing and beeping. I checked the fluid and it was full. I pulled the front passanger wheel and it look like the pads were very thin. So I purchased aftermarket OEM grade Bendix pads. I took off the caliper and removed the old pads. Well, they really weren't that worn. Hardy any wear at all compared to the new ones. I guess I couldn't see as well as I thought. The mounting plates did show flaking rust. And one of the pads separated from the steel mounting when I pulled it out. So it looks like I'll be replacing them anyway.

Are the pads with sensors available anyplace besides the dealers? The Auto Source guy said the ones he sold me were OEM grade Bendix. Maybe, but they don't have the sensor wire.

Not to hijack the thread here... but I am noticing my breaks are starting to squeel like they need to be replaced, but the sensor hasn't gone off. This has been happening for probably a week or so now. Any chance the sensors aren't picking it up?

I'm guessing the previous owner may have replaced the break pads with ones not compatible with the sensors.

pads can squel, my talon had the noisest pads, and they were the highest grade ones.


Check your sensors, i was having issues, and cleaned a few sensors, and reseated the brakes and life is good.
