Default Brake pads and rotor

My local Audi dealer said that my A4 brake pads should not be replaced on its own but the rotor should be changed at the same time. Is this true ? I have a 2010 model, and have done around 50K miles on the clock.

Really depends on how grooved or warped the rotors are. On newer cars there isn't a lot a metal to be able to "turn" them (bring them back to good shape). I have replaced just the pads on my Audi without doing the rotors. Next time around I will have to do both pads and rotors though. Might be a good idea to go to an independent shop to have the brakes checked out.
