So I finally was able to get my hands on an Audi 6 disc changer to toss into my 1.8 and when I was testing it today, I noticed that only true original discs would play. I had about 4 burned discs and none would play. So I tried burning some new ones in different formats but couldnt get any to play.

Is there some secret that I'm not aware of? I keep getting the CD(whatever disc) Load screen, then CD(x) TR01 Err1

 

it will only play original format. Get a aftermarket disc changer that will play mp3

 

not true, mine will play burned discs but only if they're in .wav format. this basically defeats the purpose of using burned discs though, because it means you can only get 15-18 songs on a disc.

 

My 6 disc will play burned CDs and like above it must be burned in a audio cd format not and MP3 cd.

 

You have to remember, your OEM cd changer is almost eight years old. Cars didn't come with MP3 cd changers back then.

 

Yea, I made sure I was burning in Audio Format instead of MP3 but still no luck. And actually, this morning I got ERR1 on an original CD...

Think a lens cleaning would fix it all? How well do those Memorex discs work? The ones with the little micro bristles on the underside.

 

i just got a stock audi cd changer and it plays all my cds. i burn them on media player and some songs are mp3 and some are wma.

 

Well I tried to play around with it all last night and was finally able to get at least one burned disc play. I have burned a few discs in Windows Media Player, Nero6, Nero7, and also using the Windows Explorer burner.

However I still got the ERR1 with a few discs. Does anyone know if I can go inside the case itself and clean the lense off better? I blew some compressed air into it but that didn't do anything.

 

Sounds like you bought a bad cd changer. Should play most formats other than mp3.

 

mine plays some burned cd's and not others. its weird. the really cheap blank cd's tend to not play while the more expensive ones do. i know it wont play mp3 cd's tho
