this thread is over a year old....
The guy that brought this thread back from the dead bought the car that the original thread starter was thinking about buying.

Cincy, if youre not into modding, a 00/01 B5 is not bad. Its got the face lift, no ICM, more reliable coil packs, updated timing belt tensioner, more convenience features, etc. But if you bought to mod, I totoally agree. I wish I had known these thing before I bought my ATW.
The 01 compared to the 00 is apples and oranges in terms of performance. The 00 is pointless at 150 hp, the extra 20hp of the 01 makes a big diffrence and the car actaully has kick. If your into modding why the FWD?

CincyTT, You didn't read the last post... I already bought the 2K, and i actually like it.

What's this about big port heads? Was that what made the difference between the 00 and 01 HP rating? Did they start usinga different turbo after 00? My car has pretty good power for being unworthy of ownership.

you should've got the 02, that was a steal man. even though i have a b5 i do like the look of the b6 better and they retain value better since its a popular body style.

I'm not the original poster. He probably did buy the 02. I was looking through old posts for some information and came across his post and noticed I bought the 00 that he was looking at so I assume he bought the other one. A couple of the guys noticed that the original post is a year old which is why I thought it was interesting.

I still say that my car feels pretty good. I don't plan to go to crazy with mods but from everything I have read, there is about an 8hp differance between the 00 and 01 after it's been chipped. I can live with that. Would it have made a differance if I had known about the HP bump for the 01 before I got the car? Maybe. Oh well, the car's still fun to drive.
