All, My A/C clutch died and I was wondering if it's possible to replace this item. If so, is it difficult? Any special toos required? Also, where would be a good place to get one? This is for a 1998 A4 2.8 V6.

Do you mean on the compressor?
On mine the compressor is real easy to get to, if its the same for the 2,8, then yes.
Mines right at the bottom-front-right of the car, 4 bolts and its off.
The big problem is removing /recharging the freon.You need special tools for that part of it.

 

Yes, This is the clutch unit right on the front of the compressor. It looks like I can purchase one and bolt it on. Thanks for the information.
