Default Can A4 use regular unleaded?

Does it matter what kind of gas you use with an A4? I have heard different things from different people. Thanks

don't do it...stick with premium...my gf's 01 a4 was filled with regular once and it lagged for an entire month until the regular unleaded worked its way out of the engine.

I would follow the manual on this one. Skimping on fuel grade is going to cost you performance and pre-mature engine wear.

that sucks...and it has to completely drain out of the engine before it can feel normal again...

yeah stick with the 91 or 93 octane. if you don't you might hear knocking or pinging from the engine.

use premium - use the best premium (highest octane) you can find. It does make a difference, your mileage is better, power is better, and response is quicker. 89 octane will burn like crude oil and your car will be forced to retard its timing - losing performance and increasing engine buildup.

according to our gas lids, 91 octane is the minimumm we should use. I personally have run anything under this and have kept 93 in my tank pretty much the whole time.

you're lucky...in SoCal, 91 is the high octane at the gas stations.
