can my sucking in hot air make car run richer?
still trying to find why car is running rich, i can smell fuel when idling threw the blower (not a/c) but when moving im thinking cold air is sucked in by engine not making car run rich... and at idle its sucking hot air around it???
does it make sense to run rich from sucking in hot air..?

So all this running rich, and its not throwing a single code?
You have been asking a lot of questions,
why do you think its running rich, and what codes are you throwing?
Are there no codes? if not, what pray tell, are the symptoms?

is your car completely stock. any mods youve done, do tell.
i remember you saying something about a new thermostat. if this is the same guy.
hot or cold air only means that the air is going to expand more or less
when combusting. therefore youll be faster (with cold air). not richer or leaner.
you may feel a difference in how the car is running when you press the accelerator
so if you dont feel a difference in performance but smell fuel you may likely have a
small fuel leak.
if you smell it in the car through your vent system then its almost definately a fuel leak.
you could still be running rich but to run so rich that you smell it in the vents. i dont know.

thanx heaps for the replies fellas, would i be able to smell the car if it where lean????
okay im heaps confused and i dont wanna post all these logs thatll throw people off because i really need your help here... the car has the mods listed in my sig, which is a 1 bar neuspeed chip and pretty much a pod filter....
im looking at my logs for fuel trims and it says on idle i get around +4.7% (add) , and multi is almost always -0.8%, which to me indicated lean at idle but i can smell fuel when i idle, and on top of that the spark plugs had black all over them (i think its carbon from pics ive seen)...
fpr is stock...
and this is the only code i get thrown at me, which u guys (and thanx again) have searched and couldnt find in ur manuals...
1 Fault Found:
00561 - Mixture Adaptation
14-00 - Adaptation Limit (Add) Exceeded

As I recall normal additive is plus or minus 10% at idle, so you are within specs.
I can't find 00561 code in my B5 code list.
Howeverm if you smell fuel and may be running rich, it may be the evaporative fuel system puige valve not working. It is located on top of the air filter box. With the car running put your ear to the valve and you should hear it rapidly clicking. Even if it is clicking doesn't mean that it is working proprely.. Sometimes charcoal dust gets stuck in ther preventing the valve fom working properly. Give the vavle some gentle raps with a screwdriver
Check the lines going to and from the valve and especially make sure that the small grey and white check valve right behind the airbox isn't cracked or rubbed through.

its ticking okay and the white and grey is fine too..
yeah no one can find that error code and to be honest i didnt wanna post it bcuz it scares off people from replying
if the evap is ticking does it mean its 100% working?
