hi im new to this forum but i already think it's great.... i have a question, i have a 2000 audi A4 1.8t with and automatic tranny and i have some problems with it... i'll put the car in gear but when i push the gas the car does not move.... i was wondering if any of you have experienced anything similar to this and what could cause the problem.... could it be the multi-function switch on the tranny?? or could the tranny be bad it self.. i know thats hard to know with out looking at the car but i would appreciate all opinions, thanks......

 

How many miles are on the car? Does it start and run fine in neutral? E-Brake on or stuck?

 

Could be a lot of things. In your case, you probably should bring it in.

In my case, it was a broken axle, but I knew I broke it. Check around the CV's and see if one is broken as a start.

 

Even if the Ebrake was on the car would move.. a little at least.... When you push the gas does it rev high with a louder higher tone?

Does it sound like there is load on the motor?

If there is no load on the motor (obvious since your arent moving) I would think something to do with your tranny...

 

it idle's kind of weak, i just shrugged it off cause it has been sitting for a little while... i traded my uncle my firebird for it..... when i push the gas it does seem like there is a load on the engine, like it wants to move but cant..... and when i push the gas it will move about a quater of an inch and then stop.... the car isn't at my house so i cant look at it when ever, im going to go look at it tomorow and let you know waht i find out, anymore ideas woould be helpfull so i could check all of them.

sounds like maybe the ebrake is jamed or somthin im the tranny is messed up
